IPL 2023: Know 16 Big Facts Of The 16th Season
The 16th season of IPL started on 31st March. Some new rules are being brought in and with these changes, the fun of the T20 league is also going to be doubled. After all, know how the change will come out.
The 16th season of IPL started on March 31 with Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings match. In Ahmedabad, the match was played at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. The final will take place on May 28. In total, 74 matches will be played during the season, including 70 league games. The way viewers watch matches on TV is also going to change. Let’s know what the 16 big things of the 16th season are.
- IPL consists of 10 teams divided into two groups of five. Each team will play 2-2 matches with the team of the other group and 1-1 matches with the 4 teams of its group.
- Twelve cities in the country will host matches in the tournament. There will be 74 matches played, including 70 league matches. Apart from the home ground of 10 teams, there will be matches in Guwahati and Dharamshala.
- There will be a total of 18 doubleheader matches in IPL 2023 i.e. two matches in 1 day. Afternoon matches will be played at 3.30 pm and all evening matches will be played at 7.30 pm.
- In IPL 2023, the number of matches will cross 1000. The 1000th match of the IPL will be played between Mumbai and Chennai on 6th May.
- The league matches IPL will be held from March 31 to May 21. The schedule of 4 matches of the playoffs including the final has not been released by the BCCI yet.
- Team India’s two veterans Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant will miss this tournament. This will be the first time that both are not playing IPL matches.
- A total of 3 new captains have been made in IPL 2023. Punjab will be captained by Shikhar Dhawan, Delhi’s David Warner and Sunrisers’ new captain Aiden Markram.
- For the first time after the Korana epidemic, there will be no bio bubble in the IPL and spectators will also be present on the ground. This decrease was seen in the last season.
- Some new rules are being implemented in IPL, after which the excitement of the game will increase. It is also going to be a different experience for the fans to watch the match.
- Even though the bio bubble has been removed, the rules of Corona will remain in force. The infected player will be kept in isolation for 1 week. Matchplay is not allowed.
- The impact player rule will be applicable in IPL 2023. 1 player can be changed in any innings during the match. Only 11 players will do the batting.
- This time there will be two lists of playing eleven. Both lists will be shared during the toss. Playing XI can be selected according to batting and bowling.
- This time players will have the facility to take DRS for wide and no ball as well. Mumbai Indians have used it in the Women’s Premier League.
- The slow over rate rule has been made even more stringent. Now only 4 players will remain outside the 30-yard circle instead of 5. This rule is good for batting.
- On the unaffair movement of the wicketkeeper, a penalty of 5 runs will be imposed on the fielding team. This means wrong gestures, and shaking during wicketkeeping will also stop.
- Some star foreign players are going to play IPL for the first time during IPL 2023 and fans will keep an eye on these players. Matches will be exciting.
