The National Testing Agency conducts the UGC NET exam, and they release the dates when the application form will be available on their official website, i.e. ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The application is filled out online, and the candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria can apply for it. One must know the correct process of filling out the UGC NET application form to avoid its rejection. Read on to learn more.

Process of filling UGC NET online form

To fill up the application form and to stay updated with the latest events for the exam, you can vist website of BYJU’S Exam Prepr. 

  1. Check the application form link on the official website: ugcnet.nta.nic.in. It is visible on the home page bottom.
  2. Click on the ‘New Registration’ tab on the next page to find the instructions on the screen. Then the checkbox at the bottom of the instruction page needs to be clicked.
  3. After this, clicking on ‘Click here to proceed’ will open a page where you need to enter the personal details such as contact, permanent address, and other information for the registration purpose. Enter a password and security pin on the same page and submit to complete the registration process.
  4. A UGC NET registration form preview option can be seen on the screen. All the checkboxes need to be clicked before clicking on the final submit button.
  5. Note down the UGC NET application number on the screen for future reference. Then the ‘Complete application form’ tab has to be clicked where the details of the posts need to be entered, such as the post for which you are applying, educational qualification, test centre, and security pin.
  6. A new page will open after the final submission for uploading the documents. You can click the ‘Upload documents’ tab for this. Once done, a tab will appear for the payment of fees. You can make the required payment online.
  7. The e-receipt and application form printout has to be kept for future reference.

Tips to Avoid Rejection of UGC NET Form

1. Check the eligibility criteria thoroughly

  • Age limit: While applying for a Lectureship or Assistant professor, there is no upper age limit, but in the case of JRF, the maximum age limit of the applicant is restricted to 30 years. Candidates pursuing an LLM degree are eligible for 3 years of age relaxation. Female candidates, research candidates, ex-army men, transgender, SC/ST/OBC candidates get 5 years age relaxation.  
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates applying for UGC NET must have a minimum academic qualification of post-graduation in any subject. There are 81 subject options offered by NTA so that candidates can apply for relevant posts.

2. Exemptions

Specific candidates are exempted from the UGC NET exam. This includes those who have qualified in NET or SLAT or SET; those who appeared for UGC NET before 1990; and the SET(State Eligibility Test) qualifiers before year 2.

3. Suitable web browser

Make sure you use Google Chrome or an updated version of Mozilla Firefox while filling up the online form. The internet connection should be strong enough to avoid any interruption.

4. Other prerequisites

  • Supporting documents proving that the applicant meets the specified UGC NET eligibility criteria.
  • A valid mobile no. and email address to receive the registration number and password.
  • Scanned copies of the passport photograph, signature, handwritten declaration, and thumb impression of the left hand must be kept ready while filling out the application form.
