Horacio Pagani was born on November 10, 1955, in Casilda, Argentina. His father, Luca Pagani worked as an Italian baker and Maria Pagani was a homemaker. Horacio was raised in a poor family but has always had rich imagination for cars. So he started working on developing his own car models using balsa wood at a very young age. Some of his models are also displayed in the Pagani showroom with great pride. 

In his love for cars, Horacio was especially fascinated by racing cars and he wanted to develop one on his own. And as he had a flair for craftsmanship and design, Horacio started with a small workshop of his own where he worked on numerous projects. He created and constructed his first F3 racer when he was 20 years old. He also made a budgie that amazed the streets of Casilda.

Horacio wanted to pursue his dream of building a supercar, but he knew that he needed more education and opportunities. For that, he enrolled himself at the National University of La Plata in 1974 to study industrial design. He later studied mechanical engineering at the National University of Rosario. To pursue his dream, he moved to Italy in 1982 where he joined Lamborghini as a low-level worker. But as he had great potential, he proved his talent and earned the position of chief engineer and worked on various projects including the Countach Evoluzione, the first car entirely made of composite materials. He also bought his own autoclave to produce carbon fibre parts for Lamborghini, after they refused to invest in one.

In 1991, he left Lamborghini and founded Modena Design, a consultancy that specialized in carbon fibre composites for Formula One cars and other clients such as Daimler, Ferrari and Aprilia. He also established Pagani Automobili Modena in 1992, his own company dedicated to creating his dream supercar.

After seven years of dedication and hard work, Horacio finished his first masterpiece, the Zonda which debuted in 1999 at the Geneva Motor Show. The Zonda was an instant hit, with its striking design, powerful performance and exquisite craftsmanship. It was followed by the Huayra in 2011, named after the Incan god of wind. The Huayra was another masterpiece of engineering and art, with its innovative aerodynamics, active suspension and luxurious interior.
