CBD

Fibromyalgia, or fibromyalgia syndrome (or Atlas syndrome), is a condition that causes increased muscle tension and is currently considered idiopathic and multifactorial rheumatic. It is characterized by chronic pain in muscles and fibrous tissues (tendons and ligaments) widespread, fluctuating and migrating – associated with stiffness, asthenia (loss of strength with fatigue), cognitive disturbances, insomnia or sleep disturbances, and alterations in sensitivity to stimuli. Those affected may experience a drop in serotonin levels, with possible anxiety and depressive disorders in some patients.

Fibromyalgia is diagnosed by exclusion of other pathologies (differential diagnosis) and subsequent palpation of the tender points, although it is the patient’s overall symptomatological picture that guides towards the diagnosis. Evident signs of haematic, neurological and radiographic alterations are absent; there is no certain histopathological aspects (tissue damage detectable with microscopic examinations) characteristic. Body inflammation indices are normal.

Pain is the predominant symptom of fibromyalgia. It usually occurs throughout the body, although it can begin in a localized location, such as the cervical spine and shoulders, and then spread to other locations over time.

Fibromyalgia pain is described in a variety of ways including a burning sensation, stiffness, tightness, tension, etc. It often varies according to times of day, activity levels, weather conditions, sleep patterns and stress. The majority of fibromyalgia patients report that they constantly feel some degree of pain. The pain is felt mainly in the muscles and symptoms of general malaise are present. For some people with fibromyalgia, the pain can be very intense.
