A new face of Mumbai Indians – Nehal Wadhera
Mumbai Indians are known for launching new faces in the cricket world through Indian Premier League. This time they’ve taken a new face in their team. Nehal Wadhera is a debutant cricketer who played his debut match this Sunday (2nd April) in IPL for Mumbai Indians against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Royal Challengers Bangalore has their master player i.e, Virat Kohli. Last year in 2022, Mumbai Indians brought up a new player Tilak Verma, the steady left-handed middle-order batter, whose name was in the headlines for his game.
Who is this debutant cricketer?
Nehal Wadhera is a 22-year-old young cricketer born in Ludhiana, Punjab. He’s a left-hand batter and a leg-break bowler. His talent was first showcased in the 2018 U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy. He scored 81 runs in his U-19 debut for India against Srilanka. His next mind-blowing performance was in the Punjab State Inter-district Tournament 2022 with 578 runs. His luck took a turn towards the good path since then. He is also referred to as ‘The New Age Yuvraj Singh’ by the netizens and other players. In the IPL auction, he was bought by Mumbai Indians at the price of 20 lacs. In January 2023, he scored a century (123) in his Ranji Trophy against Gujarat.

On 2nd April’s match, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and decided to bowl first, so Mumbai Indians were the first to bat. Mumbai Indians had quite a rough start. Sunday’s match was an opener night for both Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore against each other. Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore are both known for their amazing and smashing players and as winners a few times.
Before Nehal, MI also brought Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Sharma into the world of cricket. This time Nehal showed his true talent on the pitch. Although MI did not make it in their first match netizens were awestruck by the youngster’s performance. Nehal scored 21 runs in 13 balls. Two of his sixes were so intense and high speed that they flew out of the Chinnaswamy Stadium. He instantly became the talk of the town after his debut match against RCB. He smashed Karn Sharma with his huge number of sixes. He was inches from making a hat-trick of sixes but was caught by Virat Kohli. Kohli was also seen to be giving crash course advice to both Nehal and Tilak. He was most probably giving them tips on how to catch a short ball.

The 22-year-old boy Nehal Wadhera has truly impressed the viewers and the other players with his continuous sixes. His sixes made the team stand out anyhow as it was a bad day for Mumbai Indians. His flying sixer video went instantly viral on social media and netizens praised the young man. His current game style denotes that he has a vibrant future ahead.
