The Best Things To Do In Cyprus

Best to do in Cyprus.

Cyprus is a small island in the east of the Mediterranean Sea. It is close to Turkey and enjoys the same warm water stream that the popular beach holiday places in this country have. For this reason, Cyprus is a popular destination for beach tourism. Besides the amazing beaches, Cyprus has a lot more to offer. Keep reading to find out why Cyprus should be your next holiday destination.

Play in the amazing casinos

Cyprus is well known for its amazing casinos. The island is filled with lots of gaming resorts, specifically housing casinos. People from all over the world visit Cyprus to have a good time and win (or lose) some money. Most casinos are in Paphos, Ayia Napa, Limassol and Nicosia, and focus on slot machines but also offer roulette, blackjack, and other live games.

Casinos in Cyprus are completely legal as long as they have a license. Licensed casinos are constantly monitored by the gambling authorities of Cyprus. Besides physical casinos, there are also online casinos that mimic the great ambiance of the casinos in Cyprus from the comfort of your own home. Relax at the incredible beaches

Cyprus is geographically located in Asia, but is part of Europe. Because of its location, Cyprus has some amazing beaches that will exceed all your expectations. The water is turquoise blue and the sand is powdery white. Most beaches are located in bays, making the water very calm and suitable to swim in. The most popular beach is Nissi Beach located in Ayia Napa. This beach has lots of facilities, such as beach chairs for rent, water sports, restaurants, and nightlife.

Nissi Beach is the perfect destination for both families, couples, and solo travelers. Besides Nissi Beach, there are lots of other options, such as the beautiful beaches of Paphos, and the more rocky Governor’s Beach. Cyprus enjoys sunshine all year long and is therefore also a popular destination for tourists trying to catch some sun in the dark and cold winter months.

Explore the famous Troodos Mountains

The Troodos Mountains are an impressive mountain range that runs right through the center of Cyprus. The mountains are suitable for all sorts of hikes: from a short morning hike to a longer multi-day exploration. The hike from Pano Platres to Caledonia Waterfalls is the shortest and is about one hour each way. For a full day adventure try the Olympus Summit. This summit is only suitable for hikers in good condition and takes about seven hours to complete. The view from the top of this Olympus Summit is incredible and definitely worth the trouble.

Another recommendable hike is the one from Prastio to Akamas Ridge. It’s slightly longer than the Olympus Summit. One on top of the ridge, you’ll have an amazing view of the Akamas peninsula. If you’ve spent the whole year sitting behind a desk in your office, going on a hike will be a nice change for your body.

Roam around traditional villages

The big cities of Cyprus, Nicosia Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, are usually visited by tourists, while they skip the most beautiful and traditional little towns. However, these towns full of culture, friendly people, and traditional food should not be forgotten. Visit, for example, Omodos. This traditional village lies in the heart of Cyprus and is surrounded by vineyards and the Troodos Mountains. Visitors can learn all about the winemaking traditions of Cyprus and taste a refreshing cup of local wine. The cool climate is especially welcoming for those trying to get away from the summer heat at the coast.
