The Top 3 Things To Know From Rolex In 2021
When Rolex was founded in London in 1905, the watchmaking industry in both Europe and the rest of the world was never the same again. Rolex has introduced some of the most well-crafted and sought-after timepieces on the market, such as the Daytona, Submariner, and the Datejust. Rolex has also placed greater emphasis on innovation, which could be seen on its several watch models. This mix of innovation and dedication towards craftsmanship is the reason why Rolex rightfully earned the title “King of Watches.” Rolex has joined the likes of Chanel and Gucci in becoming the most well-known luxury brand in the watch domain.
But even the King of Watches still has to step up with the rising competition posed not just by other watchmaking brands but also by tech brands that manufacture smartwatches, which are becoming more and more viable as alternatives to luxury watches. This article will delve into the newest additions and updates that Rolex will release this 2021.
Table of Contents
1. The New Explorer II Watch
Many luxury watch brands are launching updates on their existing watch models that made watch collectors and enthusiasts go crazy. Patek Philippe, for instance, said that it would release new models of its famous Nautilus model while the International Watch Company or IWC is considering reducing the size of some of its watches. The race between luxury watch brands is surely tight this 2021, and Rolex is surely catching up with updates and new releases that have become the talk of the town!
To start, Rolex has released new updates for its Explorer line, and these are some of the biggest updates that the luxury watch manufacturer has made on its models this year. For a little bit of history, the company released the Explorer line for the first time back in 1953, and it was based around the Bubbleback, another model that also gained popularity. Since then, the brand released the Explorer model 1016 in 1959 and the Explorer II in 1971.
2. Daytona Makeover (With New Meteorite Dial)
But it’s not just the Explorer line that will get a new look this year. The Daytona model, one of Rolex’s most prominent and sought-after watches, will be getting newer versions with three new colors, and this news would surely make watch collectors and buyers even crazier. The company will release the new version of Daytona in white gold, yellow gold, and Everose gold (which is like rose gold).
This revamped Daytona for the new generation will also include a black chronograph counter at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, as well as a meteorite dial. The white gold version of this newer Daytona features an Oysterflex bracelet as well as a tachymetric scale with a monobloc bezel in black ceramic color. The yellow and rose gold versions of the new Daytona, on the other hand, also possess a tachymetric scale but with a metal bezel and an oyster bracelet.
3. New Versions of the Day-Date and the Datejust
Last but not least, it’s not just Daytona or Explorer who will get new updates this 2021. Watch collectors, especially those obsessed with diamonds, will surely love this news as THe company will release new versions of the Day-Date and the Datejust this year. Available in four different three color combinations (namely yellow gold/burgundy, white gold/turquoise, and Everose gold/orange), the newer Day-Date 36 is adorned with diamonds from the dial to the bezel.
Just like the Day-Date 36, new versions of the Datejust 36 will also come in four different colors, and they will be released as part of Rolex’s 2021 novelties. This model will also feature new and fascinating palm and fluted dial motifs. The palm motif will be seen in three different colors on three different versions (olive green on the Oystersteel version, gold on the Rolesor version, and silver on the Everose Rolesor version). Finally, the fluted motif will be seen in the yellow gold Rolesor version, but all of these four versions will run in a caliber 3255 movement.
Is it a Good Time to Buy a Rolex?
With all of these new updates on some of its most popular models, some watch collectors and users will gain interest in Rolex watches again amidst increasing competition from both other luxury watch brands, like Patek Philippe as well as smartwatch brands like Apple. The launch of these newer versions of classic Rolex watches also shows how willing Rolex is to defy its limits and continue to move forward as one of the leading watch brands on the market.
In the case of the Explorer line, since they are underrated compared to other more famous Rolex models like the Daytona and the Submariner, the brand is hoping to build a following on these previously held out watch models and therefore increase its sales. Rolex is a watch brand that has gained and retained a steady following from watch collectors and other affluent individuals alike, and with these new updates and innovations on its classic models, this year is a good time to get a Rolex watch as an addition to your collection.
