At the Congress’s meeting in Raipur, Sonia Gandhi said that “her innings may end with the Bharat Jodo Yatra.”
At the 3-day plenary, Mrs. Gandhi expressed her gratitude to her party members for the victory achieved by the Congress in 2004-2009. Her remarks also praised the leadership of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The Bharat Jodo Yatra, hailed as a “turning point for Congress,” may have been the last chapter in her political career.
During her speech, she also attacked the ruling BJP for “capturing” and “subverting” every institution in the country. It has caused economic ruin by favoring a few businessmen by capturing all the institutions in the country. This presents a challenging time for Congress and the entire country.”
In a similar vein, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge urged his party members to align with like-minded parties in order to defeat the BJP in 2024. Reports from PTI claim he is prepared to make sacrifices to defeat the BJP in future elections, branding the party as an “anti-people party.”
According to Kharge, the country’s constitutional and democratic values are threatened, echoing the concerns raised by Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. In addition, he discussed the recurring problem of China invading territories and the territorial disputes between them.
